Mute the Violence DC is focused on bringing awareness to gun violence to not only youth, but all individuals in the Metropolitan area. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and want to use our connections to make changes within our community. Our mission is to bring an end to interpersonal violence within groups of people, and find alternative solutions to come to a common ground.

Mute The Violence DC is an organized team of unique individuals who work within our communities. Our black and brown communities are disproportionately represented because we are underserved. This is due lack of support, financial resources, education, and most importantly: unity. Mute the Violence DC is battling this issue by continuously giving back to communities through a multitude of events, fostering relationships, and offering services to individuals while also building relationships and making meaningful connections. What sets Mute the Violence DC apart is our ability to turn nothing into something. We have a team and everyone has a duty; we want to do the work and we know what to do to get the work done!

We provide services to underserved youth ages 11 to 24 in all Wards in the Washington Metropolitan area. We offer services such as Conflict Resolution/Mediation, Peer-to-Peer Mentorship, Big Brother Mentorship, one-on-one job preparedness, and academic support. These services work to improve conditions for residents, which will ultimately help make the community safer. MTVDC has experience working with disadvantaged communities in the District of Columbia that have been plagued by high levels of crime and violence, as we are focused on reprogramming youth to make safer decisions in the communities they live in. There must be a way for these individuals to obtain an education without feeling unsafe. MTVDC strongly supports providing our youth with patience, love, consistency and time.

We are looking inward to reflect outward in changing the negative mindsets into positive outcomes. We strive to change the attitudes and value systems of children, youth and adults in the District who are at risk and/or are in crises by promoting and teaching independence, positive life skills and beneficial survival techniques to help them rejoin society.
